About Our Common Concern

Originally launched on Blogspot in early 2007, Our Common Concern is a socially conscious blog rooted in the simple belief that “our greatest resource is each other”. Among those working for progressive social change, there is more that unites us than drives us apart — and Our Common Concern is the perfect way to seize this opportunity.

Our Common Concern recently entered an exciting partnership with the Third Sector New England’s (TSNE’s) Non Profit Center in Boston, a non-profit “incubator” where dozens of organizations work to create a more just, sustainable, and humane future.

Each month, the blog will highlight the work of the Center’s great tenants, from Roots & Shoots to Boston After School & Beyond. Interspersed with news updates about progressive causes around the world – including human rights, the environment and animal advocacy – Our Common Concern will be a one-stop shop for anyone interested in a unified social movement for change.

About the Founder (currently on leave until late fall 2008)

Jared Milrad

Jared Milrad was born in New York City and raised both in New York and central New Jersey. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University and a M.S. from Tufts University. When not posting on this blog, Jared enjoys running (slowly), traversing the town, and collaborating with others to catalyze change.

About Our Contributors

Each month, Our Common Concern will highlight the work of outstanding non-profit organizations in the Boston area, many of whom are tenants of Third Sector New England’s Non-Profit Center. These organizations are as much contributors as they are co-authors of this blog — put simply, it could not exist without them.
Any non-profit organization who works on a social issue can be highlighted on Our Common Concern. Interested parties are asked to submit a 400-500 word guest post that (1) features a particularly engaging story or topic that highlights their work and (2) includes ways for the average reader to get involved in their cause. Submissions can be sent to Jared at ourcommonconcern@gmail.com.
