This November, California voters will have an opportunity to improve living conditions for millions of farm animals and ban the most egregious confinement practices. The Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act, a ballot initiative brought by leading animal advocacy organizations, would require that all farm animals be allowed to lay down and turn around freely. It would also ban veal crates for calves, gestation crates for pregnant sows, and battery cages for chickens — three of the most intensive confinement practices in the industry.
The California egg industry opposes the initiative, citing economic reasons. The Humane Society of the United States responds to this argument, as does Californians for Humane Farms. Also see the full text of the Act and Pew Commission’s recent report on factory farming.
Finally, a YouTube video highlighting some of the practices that would be banned under the Act.

That is such great news, South Africa government has no regard for animals and we fight a very difficultfight here. So when ever I can I search the blog to find solution.
Part of what we are fighting for is to put a stop to the horse slaughtering that never seems to end. Up to 144 horses are slaughtered weekely. Read this http://obphorses.wordpress.com
I have seen in what a state chicked are transported in and even other live stock. Mankind is the worst enemy for any animal. I give thanks to A.L.F in America for their help to put a stop to this even if it is not in stupid SA.
Please let me know the outcome, you may mail me at cheryl@s2rprojects.co.za as said I doing intensive research to put a stop this cruelty our animals are subjected to.
Regards
Cheryl
